Revolving bookcase (ref. 1857)

English walnut revolving bookcase on an iron base, storage capacity 236 cm, made by Maples & Co. This company was founded in 1841 by John Maple, with production and sales from Tottenham Court Road in London. Due to the excellence of the company’s products and the drive of the founder and his son, greatly expanded, to have even more workshops and outlets in both Paris and Buenos Aires, and later a store in Smyrna. The clientele included Queen Victoria, King Edward VIIth, members of the royal family, the King of Siam, and Nicholas, Tsar of Russia. Later Maples would furnish the Royal Yachts, the QE1, QE2 and Queen Mary, as well as hotels in Nice, London, Paris and Siam.
