Thunder glass (ref. 2077)
Thunder glas, Limburg/Liège area. The thunder glass is filled with water, above which there is a constant amount of air. The reservoir is closed except for the spout. High air pressure pushes down the water in the spout and compresses the air above the water. The water in the spout rises when the air pressure drops. During a sharp fall, for example during a storm, the water rises so far that it drips out.
